Let me start this post by saying that I totally, absolutely, positively detest message boards. No offense to anyone that enjoys them…to each his own. I just can’t stand them.

Now, I will admit to a bit of hypocrisy, because I’m a member of a few message boards…one is for women with nappy hair (no, nappy is not an insult lol). Another one is for computer geeks…which I might be, I’m not admitting to anything! The other is for conspiracy theorists…those people are a little wacky, but I like the theories they come up with. According to them everything that’s wrong in this world can be blamed on:

• George Bush
• Aliens
• A shift in the space-time continuum
• The Illuminati
• Reptilians (not sure what a reptilian is, but I think they’re bad news!)

See? I said they were a little wacky. I’m digressing from my point though…

I’ve been looking at a few message boards lately, I think to remind myself why I don’t like them. I’ve read some well thought out posts, and some that are wackier than anything the previously mentioned conspiracy theorists could ever come up with. I never comment on anything that I read on these message boards, I usually feel like I’m watching a train wreck happen when I’m there.

I know someone out there is thinking, “why doesn’t she just stop reading message boards if she doesn’t like them?”. Well, I could do that…that’s what I normally do, ignore them. I guess I’ve just been torturing myself lately. Of course, I’m learning so much from them. For instance:

• Men go to message boards to bitch about their relationships. We all know they’re the best place in the world to get advice (\sarcasm).
• Women go to message boards to bitch about their relationships.
• Almost every person that posts is an expert on…every damned thing.
• The light skinned/dark skinned controversy continues…(sigh)
• Women with nappy hair are considered “plain”…or just “neo-soul types”
• There are quite a few “Internet bullies” out there…who can’t possibly be that ignorant in real life.
• Every member has a Ph.D, and an executive level job. They’ve never had casual sex, never lied or cheated. All of the women are size 4, and all of the men are hung like horses. Most importantly, they’re all extremely beautiful. (yeah…of course they are.)
• Oh yeah, everything wrong in this world can be blamed on George Bush.

I’m being really sarcastic, but I kid you not, those people are damn near perfect in every aspect of their lives…according to them.

I suppose it’s time for me to stop visiting said message boards…they’re just pissing me off. Because I will never be that perfect.
