Looks like VH1 has crowned Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power” the number one rap song of all time. I don’t watch VH1, I rarely watch anything on television…but I will mention this because I agree with them.
Fight the Power IS the best rap song of all time! This song reminds me of when I was a black medallion wearing militant chick. (I’m still a militant chick, just quiet with it these days.) It also reminds me of going to hear Farrakhan speak once. My friends and I were waiting in line to get into the convention center and this guy that looked like Agent Smith from The Matrix was asking everyone for their names. Which they gave without question…sigh (I don’t know why people do that). When he got to me, I said “No, you can’t have my name.” Dude stared at me for about a minute then he left me alone. I don’t know why they were taking names, but they sure as hell weren’t getting mine!
Here’s the number one rap song…

That song really lit a fire when it came out in NYC. Everywhere I went from Harlem up into the South Bronx into Flatbush and over into Crown Heights…all you would hear is Fight the Power!! It definitely was a soundtrack for summer in the city during those times…

Love me some P.E. I personally dig “Black Steel In The Hour of Chaos.” I got a letter from the Governor the other day….

It constantly surprises me how often people will give out personal information without being the least bit suspicious. If memory serves me correctly I’m pretty sure my Safeway card is listed under either George Washington or Chuck U. Farley.
